There was no regular holiday. We also have holidays. I do not have year-end and New Year holidays. It was certainly between December 31 and January 4th, but ... It is necessary to confirm.
Jajamen! Nice and simple Noodles. 3 sizes to choose from. Once you’re almost completed, make sure to crack a raw egg in it and give it to the lady. She will add some noodle brother in it for your second course.
The Jajamen noodles here are fairly overrated, nothing to write home about even if they're the supposed "originators" of this dish in Morioka, they seem to be riding this train for far too long. What was completely absurd and absolutely terrible customer service is the fact that we waited at least 45 minutes outside in the cold before we were seated, even though there were more than enough empty seats inside. There was also another 2 patrons that lined up right after us and entered the same time. Whilst they only ordered a minute before us, they managed to get their same dishes served, eaten, and paid before we even got to eat...To say we were disappointed is an understatement, would have been 2 stars for food if it weren't for the non existant customer service.
A different take on Japanese noodles, a very cosy little place, inexpensive (only 600 to 700 yen) but you will have to wait outside if you arrive at lunchtime.
It's a good jajamen place. Another customer there told me that this place is where the first Morioka jajamen originated. The place is real tiny and narrow though so there's always a line. Had to wait 30 minutes my first time there. They have another place at the Morioka station so if you don't want to wait then you have that option (though can get busy at the station too). Some have told me this place tastes better but after trying both places, I didn't really notice the difference.
Food was all right, but you basically make your jajamen to your own taste with the condiments, so it's hard to tell if the sauce was good or if you just made it taste good. You top up 50 yen to make chichitan with egg and broth when you're done with your noodles. Okay, but not fantastic.
